Lisa steps up to help families in need

Wednesday 14 February 2007 1:42 PM
Working in a busy London centre helping victims of domestic violence led to lawyer Lisa Macdonald wanting to specialise in family law.

Now, after eight years in practice, Lisa has joined law firm Woolley & Co to help families around Bath and across Wiltshire with their legal disputes.

Woolley & Co is a pioneering “virtual” firm of solicitors, employing legal experts around the country and offering the best possible service to clients through advances in technology.

It operates through two main portals, www.business-lawfirm.co.uk and www.divorce-lawfirm.co.uk, helping to speed up consultations and make the process less intimidating.

New appointment Lisa, aged 33, studied at Guildford Law School and has worked on a number of national and international cases involving family break-ups. Her particular fields of expertise include resolving financial issues following the breakdown of a relationship and Children Act matters.

When she moved to Wiltshire, she expanded her expertise, acting for a number of farming clients on division of financial assets and ancillary relief matters.

“Having worked with domestic violence when I first started working, I decided it was an area in which I could help a lot of people,” said Lisa, a keen runner who has completed the Flora London marathon.

“I did not want to work entirely on my own but still wanted to work with autonomy. The set-up we have at Woolley & Co means although I am operating independently, there are lots of people to draw expertise from, like a normal large firm.

“The technology that we use benefits the clients enormously. It really speeds up the process.

“I am looking forward to the challenges ahead and working with Woolley & Co to help families in the Bath and Wiltshire areas.”

Lisa had been working at a practice in Bath before deciding to join Woolley and Co.

The success of Woolley & Co, this year celebrating its 10th anniversary, is built on plain English and a straightforward approach.

Senior partner Andrew Woolley said: “Lisa’s experience in dealing with a range of family cases brings something special to the firm.

“I am delighted she has chosen to work with us and would like to welcome her to the firm.”
